This seemed to be a blessing in disguise as the Makhanda football fraternity had the chance to reflect on the current state of our local football. XI Attackers beat Eagles by three goals to nil while Love and Peace thrashed struggling Black Stars by eight goals to two. By Chris Totobela Makhanda’s Khutliso Daniels Secondary School netball is not only dominant in the local netball scene but has made great strides beyond the borders of Makhanda. This was proven in their trip to East London on 9 and 10 April when they took part in the Eastern Cape Mini-World Cup for Under 15 netball players. Boxing fans packed the Joza Indoor Sports Centre to the rafters to support boxers from our very own Sarah Baartman district. Boxers came from all eight Eastern Cape districts Amathole, Buffalo City Metro (BCM), Nelson Mandela Bay Metro (NMB), OR Tambo, Joe Gqabi, Chris Hani, Alfred Nzo, and host Sarah Baartman. Winter rose flank forward Fikile Kulati succumbed to a long battle with diabetes on 18 April 2023. The 63-year-old Kulati started his rugby career at Nathaniel Nyaluza high school, where he made a name for himself. He went on to further his studies at The Cape College, where he was trained as an educator in 1981.
