The Nelson Mandela Museum Youth and Heritage Centre, a centre built in Qunu to serve as a Catalyst for youth and community development will undergo renovations. The Youth and Heritage Centre was officially opened in 2006 by the then first democratically elected president of South Africa Nelson Mandela; and has been officially handed over to the department of Public Works from 12 August. Rhodes University students have entrusted 23 year-old Pharmacy student, Katlego Mphahlele, with the role of leading the 2020 Student Representative Council (SRC). Mphahlele was inaugurated together with her 14 SRC executive members at Eden Grove Red lecture theatre on Friday. Retired police colonel Terry Hurn is recovering in hospital after being attacked around 8pm on Saturday 17 August outside his Sunnyside, Makhanda (Grahamstown) house and police have asked for anyone with information about the incident to contact them.
