The remains of seven anti-apartheid Struggle heroes from the Eastern Cape have been exhumed and identified and will be reburied in their ancestral homes on Saturday 10 November, the Department of Military Veterans (DMV) has said. The United Democratic Front (UDF) activists were sentenced to death and hanged at Kgosi Mampuru Prison, formerly Pretoria Central, between 1987 and 1989. Six remains will be reburied at Kwa-Zakhele, Port Elizabeth, on Saturday and one was to be interred today at the Jansenville Town Hall. The Ford Motor Company says the first-ever Ford Ranger Raptor will be produced in South Africa when it hits the market in 2019. Local assembly of the Ranger Raptor will take place at Ford’s Silverton assembly plant in Pretoria. In a unanimous ruling on Tuesday 7 November, the Constitutional Court dismissed an appeal by three Rhodes University students against an interdict granted by the Grahamstown High Court in December 2016. The three students had approached the Constitutional Court following unsuccessful attempts at the High Court and Supreme Court of Appeal. The interdict followed participation by the students in protests against gender-based violence in April and May 2016 which the court found had “made serious inroads into the rights and liberties of others”.
