The Grahamstown KWANTU Choir has been registered to participate at the World Choir Games taking place in Pretoria  from 4 to 14 July 2018. The festive season is characterised by the extensive movement of people across the country and for this reason the police in three provinces – Eastern, Northern and Western Cape – held a three-day-long cross-border operation. Personnel, vehicles and specialised equipment from all three provinces were employed in this operation to help deal with crimes prevalent in these provinces. Altogether 165 suspects were arrested for various crimes including dealing and possession of drugs, possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, dealing in liquor, fraud and undocumented persons. Siphamandla Petse, 24, made a brief appearance in the Alexandria Magistrates court Monday in connection the recent attack on Alexandria farmer Riaan Scheepers. The breakthrough by Alexandria Detectives came on Friday after around-the-clock investigations into last Saturday morning’s attack, police spokesperson Captain Mali Govender said. This morning Sunday 26 November a 29-year-old man handed himself over to the Joza police, after the death of his girlfriend. He faces a charge of murder. Police spokesperson Captain Mali Govender said it was alleged that the man returned to his home in the early hours of this morning after an alleged altercation with his 20-year-old girlfriend during which he allegedly assaulted her with a chair. “He left her lying on the floor and went to bed,” Govender said. “This morning when he awoke he found her dead.
