Mbulelo Nondala, from the Zolani location, is the winner of February’s “My Garden competition”.

When he was a little boy, Mbulelo learned about gardening from his father. Now he uses these skills to care for his own garden, planting mostly vegetables and watering the garden twice a week. He won himself a voucher worth R50 to spend on gardening materials at Sunnyside Garden Centre.

With the voucher, Mbulelo purchased a tray of tomatoes and lettuce, which will add to his garden.

“My Garden competition” is an initiative between by Grocott’s Mail and the Sunnyside Garden Centre, and has been running for the past two months. Malcolm Southey, owner of and manager at Sunnyside Garden Centre explains that the initiative is a way of appreciating and motivating gardeners in the Grahamstown region.
