Grahamstown's annual Remembrance Day event will take place this Sunday (8 November) at the war memorial in Church Square.

Although Remembrance Day is marked on the anniversary of the end of World War I in 1914 – 11 November – each year, the day serves to remind us of all those who have lost their lives serving their country in any conflict – right up to the present day.

Proceedings kick off at 10.30am. The Kingswood College and St Andrew's College bands will be on parade as well as members of the First City Regiment and the SA Police Service.

There will be a wreath-laying ceremony to honour the fallen. Everyone is welcome to attend.

NB Look out for our special Remembrance Day feature about the Grahamstown residents who fought in World War I in Grocott's Mail on Friday.
