Sanctioned by Nelson Mandela Bay Aquatics, the series is the only official open water swimming series in the Eastern Cape where swimmers can qualify for South African Open Water Swimming Champs.
Settlers Dam will be the venue for all five events in the series, with the next event taking place on Sunday 15 November. A number of Grahamstown swimmers took part, with other competitors travelling from Port Elizabeth, East London and surrounding areas.
Teagan Strydom was the 1km winner in 14:37, with Nadia van Zyl leading the women home in 16:57.
Oscat Liss of St Andrew’s College was second overall in the 1km swim in 14:53. Nicholas Adam was first in the 3km swim in 41:06, followed closely by women’s winner, Amica de Jager in 41:25.
