In keeping with the celebratory air surrounding our 143rd birthday and relaunch as a weekly newspaper, Grocott's Mail has won the MDDA/Sanlam award for the best local newspaper in South Africa!
Editor Steven Lang accepted the prize, which was awarded under the "independent established newspaper over 5 years" category, at a ceremony held in Boksburg on Friday 24 May.
"It is fantastic to have the hard work of the Grocott's team recognised on a national platform," said Lang.
Senior reporter Avuyile Mngxitama-Diko also made it as a finalist the Hard News category. The ceremony was held at Birchwood Hotel and OR Tambo Conference Centre.
