It is with great pleasure that we announce the appointment of Kaamil Adams as the new Director of Rowing at St Andrew’s College.

Adams will succeed Ed Goodier and bring a wealth of experience and expertise to our rowing programme.

Adams joined us from South African College School (SACS) in Cape Town in September 2023, where he served as Director of Rowing. Before his tenure at SACS, he was instrumental in establishing the rowing club at the University of the Western Cape (UWC), where he was manager and head coach.

Adams’ passion for rowing was ignited during his years at Grassy Park High School, where he was supported by Alfred’s Rowing Club. This transformative experience inspired him to pursue a double major degree in Environmental and Geographical Sciences (EGS) and Media and Writing at the University of Cape Town (UCT). He later completed his Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) at UCT.

Throughout his career, Adams has demonstrated exceptional leadership and coaching abilities, guiding his teams to numerous national-level successes. Under his leadership, the SACS 1st VIII achieved top three finishes at the Boat Race and SA Championships.

In addition to his rowing expertise, Adams is passionate about teaching and has already become a well-regarded teacher here in the past year and will continue to teach Geography in his new role.

We are also delighted to learn that Tiffany Rolando has been appointed to the staff at the DSG, as a Geography teacher. She is also a highly regarded rowing coach having worked at St Benedict’s College and Jeppe Boys’

High. The combination of Adams and Rolando is an exciting one and we look forward to seeing their impact on the SAC and DSG Clubs in the coming years.
