Makana Municipality’s school football is in full swing under the auspices of the Department of Education.

The games take place every Wednesday and Friday after school.

Last week, second-placed Ntsika Secondary School defeated bottom of the table Mary Waters while log leaders TEM Mrwetyana eased past Nathaniel Nyaluza by four unanswered goals.

In the main game of the week that attracted a lot of spectators, defending champions Kutliso Daniels took on Nombulelo Secondary in a thrill-a-minute  encounter.

Nombulelo started the first half strongly but were guilty of not converting the chances they created. Their players seemed to be more excited by the huge crowd as they spent a few extra seconds on the ball while allowing Kutliso to regroup.

Kutliso got two chances and made good use of them and killed the game.

Kutliso trail the log leaders with four points, with a game in hand, but it is still early days and the race for this year’s title is still wide open.
