Kowie United 1st XV delivered a resounding 52-0 bonus-point win over arch-rivals Ndlambe Tigers in
their SUNSED Regional League derby at Station Hill Sports Ground on Saturday.

The convincing victory earned Kowie United 22 points, propelling them to third position on the log.

In front of a packed crowd, Kowie United showcased their expertise with an impressive display of
running rugby, leaving Tigers struggling to score.

The forwards laid the groundwork, creating possession and scoring opportunities for the speedy backline players, who capitalized with scintillating tries.

The United side entertained the crowd with eight unanswered tries, demonstrating complete
dominance. Dayne Jacobs and Enzo Swarts scored two tries each, while Meligan Frantz, Duncan van
Rensburg, Godfrey Frolik and Shaun Naidoo also crossed the try line. Mason Brooks successfully
converted four out of six tries.
Duncan van Rensburg of Kowie United was named Man of the Match for his outstanding
performance. The emphatic victory solidifies Kowie United’s position in the league and they continue to push for the top spot.

Rosebuds secure hard-fought win over Alderonians
Log leaders Rosebuds from Alicedale continued their winning streak with a 19-12 victory over a
determined Alderonians side from Addo at the Alicedale Sports Ground. The win cements Rosebuds’ position at the top of the SUNSED Regional League with 25 points, just one point ahead of second-
placed Valencia Barbarians.

Rosebuds’ success this season can be attributed to their unity and cohesive play. Their speedy backline, led by captain Gwenton Cedras, who scored two tries, has been a key factor in their victories. The intense and competitive match saw the two teams level at 7-7 at halftime, but Rosebuds capitalized on Alderonians’ mistakes in the second half, scoring crucial points.

Young Shaheen Pieterson impressed with a try and two conversions, earning him the Man of the Match award. The match was a thrilling display of rugby, with both teams showing great effort and dedication. Rosebuds’ win demonstrates their resilience and ability to perform under pressure.
The SUNSED Regional League is heating up, and Rosebuds’ victory sets the stage for an exciting competition. With their sights set on the top spot, Rosebuds will continue to push themselves to achieve success.
