The much anticipated Africa Cup of Nations has delivered more than football lovers expected. Despite the tragic incident where spectators lost their lives in the host country’s (Cameroon) game, the tournament has lived up to expectations.

There have been some surprise packages like Malawi, Comoros, Gambia and Gabon, who have played scintillating football without any fear. Twenty four nations started the 2022 showpiece, but now it is down to the last four.

The Burkina Faso and Senegal game will be a very tough encounter at Stade Omnisport Ahmadou Ahidjo in Yaounde. Both teams play aggressive football and are lethal in front of goals. The second semi-final between host Cameroon and Egypt will be a cracker and a good test for the hosts. Cameroon enjoys taking the game to their opponents, while Egypt likes to wait and absorb the pressure, wait for opponents to lapse and pounce on them. This will be a battle of Liverpool’s on form hit men Senegal’s Sadio Mane and Egypt’s Mo Salah. This game will also occur at Stade Omnisport Ahmadou Ahidjo in Yaounde on 3 February, just a day after the first semi-final clash.

All four teams deserve to be in the semis, and it would be interesting to see who will make it to the final on 6 February at Olembe Stadium in Olembe.
