The Makana Parks department has appointed new staff and received new work equipment, including weed eaters, chain saws, and rakes.

New senior supervisor Wandile Duruwe and his manager have drawn up work schedules for the work teams to follow to ensure the new equipment is put to good use.

Director of Public Safety and Community Services, Kelello Makgoka, said work schedules are the only tool that will ensure the town is clean and looking good.

The new tools will assist the department in carrying out its day-to-day responsibilities, such as cutting grass and tree trimming. The employees also received new protective clothing. The team has started cutting main entrances and highly overgrown areas in town.

Makgoka said more equipment would be procured to boost the department’s capacity.
