Jim Cambray recorded 14.9mm at Park Road for the week 28 October to 3 November 2021.

However, Robin Stobbs reported that rainfall in his arid quarter of Makhanda (Grant Street) was just 11mm for the same period, while Paul Maylam captured slightly less – 10.7mm – for Cathcart Street.

Temperatures for last week ranged from 11.5 – 29.5C.

Jim’s October total was 35.5mm, way below the average of 81.5mm and the mean of 62.6mm, while Robin’s was even lower, at 23.8mm.

Paul noted the optimistic forecast for heavy rain next week. And Robin insisted, “It HAS to come one day.”

Jim noted that the highest October rainfall was in 2012 “with a wow of 319.7mm”.

“We sure could use some of that now.”

We are on the hopeful cusp of the deep green (50% above normal) in this rainfall prediction for the next three months:
