The Workshop, situated in Grahamstown’s  Industrial Area, will be launched in conjunction with the Grahamstown Games this Saturday, 2 September.

The Fitness Box together with CrossFit Grahamstown will host the inaugural Grahamstown Games on Saturday 2 September. The event will include an Obstacle course, BootCamp workout, Indoor rowing, mountain biking and trail running.

Simon van der Merwe, organiser of the event said all events will be tackled as a team, “except that the mountain biking and trail running will be 2 athletes (1 male and 1 female) each”.

The multi-disciplinary, mixed-team fitness challenge has drawn in local fitness enthusiasts of all disciplines as well as corporate and sponsored teams, and both fun and serious athletes alike. “This is an event for the whole family,” said Van der Merwe.

The Grahamstown Games has secured some enthusiastic sponsors including Harcourts, Nutritech and The EyeStore, making for some thrilling prizes for the winners (including Adidas sunglasses and Nutritech hampers), as well as many spot prizes. Grocott’s Mail has come on board as the media sponsor. All athletes will receive a goodies bag with a T-shirt and water bottle.

The Workshop currently consists of Bermuda Lawns and Landscaping, Noom and The Fitness Box. These businesses complement each other well and create a destination facility with purpose. The business has been well received and supported since opening their doors.

Although The Workshop has already been open for a period of time, a grand opening has been organized for Saturday 2 September to formally introduce the space. Various stalls will be positioned within the parking area coupled with multiple activities and specials running on the day, creating an interesting action packed family outing.
