Classical guitarist, Cinzia Milani, will be performing in Grahamstown on Thursday 11 June 2015 at 7.30 in St Andrew's College Chapel.
She'll be playing a wide selection of music ranging from work by Gaspar Sanz (1640 – 1710) right up to modern composers such as Maximo Pujol and Oscar Cesares.
Milani is an interationally acclaimed musician whom Classical Guitar Magazine described as “something more than the usual talented youngster with flying fingers, having a world of expression, musicianship, a feeling for her instrument, all combined with a lovely and powerful tone, so rare even in older and more experienced players".
Cinzia began studying the classical guitar at a very young age and graduated from the Conservatorio “A. Boito”, in Parma, at age 18.
She won first prize at the International Competition of Milan at age 5, and at 7 she was awarded the “Ambrogino d’oro” by the Municipality of Milan for her extraordinary and precocial musical ability.
At 10 she won the “Trofeo Beniamino Gigli” in Recanat with a grade of 100%. By the age of 14, had already won sixteen first prizes in International and National Competitions.
She is said to be noted for the beauty, grace, natural elegance and depth with which she performs.
With a brilliant technique and powerful sound, she is considered among the best young classical guitarists of her time.
