Weather guru, Garth Sampson, says that this week's rain may well turn to snow overnight on Thursday.

The weather will gradually worsen as the week progresses.

The cloudy and cold conditions will continue today (Tuesday) with an increasing amount of rain – including steady rain, showers and even thunder showers – over the entire Eastern Cape by tomorrow (Wednesday).

This will be accompanied by strong, north easterly winds.

By Thursday, heavy rain might even have caused flooding in places between Port Elizabeth and East London.

Plus, he says "The first major disruptive snowfalls of the year are expected overnight over the northern interior. These will mainly be on higher ground – including the Winterberg – towards evening. These snowfalls can be disruptive to traffic, especially on the mountain passes".

Better news is that things generally should start clearing from the west although there may still be some rain along the Wild Coast.
