The Clem Jacobs Memorial Trips bowling event was held over the past weekend in honour of former member, Clem Jacobs, who passed away two years ago.

The Clem Jacobs Memorial Trips bowling event was held over the past weekend in honour of former member, Clem Jacobs, who passed away two years ago.

The event was hosted by the Albany Bowling Club.

Organiser of the tournament, Gwen Bartlett, said the aim of the event was to honour Clem’s wish which was for “people to enjoy and have fun playing bowls”.

In total 20 teams entered from Grahamstown, Port Alfred and Kenton-on-Sea.

Grahamstown teams represented the hosts, Albany Bowling Club and Grahamstown Bowling Club.

“It was a lovely day with teams being in good spirit,” said Bartlett.

Clem’s brother Gerard handed over the prizes to the first four teams.

Overall winning trips team was made up of Dave McNeill, Bryony Shone, and Brian Aldag from Kenton Bowling Club.

Port Alfred Bowling Club members Noel Heale, Alison Taylor and Phil Taylor took second place. In third place overall and top Grahamstown side was made of Phillip McDougal, Stuart McDougal and Mandy May (Grahamstown Bowling Club).

Albany Bowling Clu members Mario Agnew, Andre van Reenen and Gill Duncan took fourth place.
