St Andrew’s College have made it to the finals of the Eastern Cape section of the Coca-Cola Schools T20 Challenge after winning their play-off game this morning.
St Andrew’s College have made it to the finals of the Eastern Cape section of the Coca-Cola Schools T20 Challenge after winning their play-off game this morning.
The regional play-offs and finals take place against representative school sides from Border, EP, Kei and South Western Districts to determine the overall Eastern Cape winner.
Matches take place at Dale College in King William’s Town.
St Andrew’s faced Dalubuhle high school on Friday 13 February, after beating Pearson earlier in the week in the Eastern Province finals.
In Friday’s play-off game, St Andrew’s batted first and posted 173 for the loss of five wickets. Anthony Dakin top scored with 58, while Tom Lane made 54. Dalubuhle made 50 all out as Ross Ferguson took 3/16. St Andrew’s won by 123 runs.
The finals were scheduled for Friday afternoon, but due to the a wet Main Oval at Dale, the final will take place on Saturday 14 February.
St Andrew’s will face the winner of the second play-off, taking place on Friday afternoon between Dale and Langenhoven Gim.
On their way to the finals, St Andrew’s beat Kingswood College and Volkskool in the first week of the competition. During the second week, St Andrew’s beat Woodridge College and then Pearson.
The winner of Saturday’s final will represent the Warriors in the national finals of the Under-19 Coca-Cola T20 Schools Challenge.
Last year Kingswood College represented the Warriors.
