The Eastern Cape Department of Education MEC Mandla Makupula said Wednesday 8 October that it’s all systems go in preparation for the 91 247 candidates that will be writing their National Senior Certificate final examinations in two weeks.
They are scheduled to begin writing their Grade 12 Matric exams on Monday 20 October and finish 28 November.
Makupula said 21 376 of the pupils will write their examinations as private candidates while 69 745 are full time.
Currently, there are 1 431 public and independent examinations centres across the province at schools and other centres established for the purpose.
Once all learners have finished writing their exams, the papers will be delivered to the 15 provincial marking centres that are scheduled to operate between 1-13 December.
The department has made a provision for 3 790 markers.
This year, Computer Applications Technology is the first exam, and they conclude with Agricultural Technology, Nautical Science and Dance Studies.
