He bequeathed responsibility of House Captaincy upon a select group of Grade 7’s. Though this group of 13-year-olds is incredibly rambunctious. Tait's guidance enabled them to become more serious and take command.
There are four houses into which the pupils are divided, with Slater House winning the overall Athletics Cup.
The athletics day happened in what could be considered the best conditions of the year.
Student Assistant Hashil Chibe, though, could be heard saying that it wasn’t his cup of tea while pulling his wide-brim cricket hat a little further down his forehead.
When Sports Day comes to mind, one generally thinks of corner flags, high-jump mats and freshly painted lane-lines. The junior and senior schools combined their Sports Day in a show of athleticism, camaraderie and rivalry.
It goes without saying that the atmosphere becomes more exciting than a bouncy ball in the back of a bakkie. Speaking of bouncy balls, Kingswood Grade 6 pupil Gizelle de Klerk beat the u12 cricket-ball record while Grade 5 pupil Cole van der Merwe managed to equal the u11 high-jump record.
What would really blow your mind would be the entrepreneurial organisation set out by the senior school pupils who erected sales-stalls mere meters from the race-track.
The crowd favourites belonged to the al fresco pancakes and burger stalls, attracting much ravenous interest from parents and students alike.
The stall-salesmanship became a heated endeavour, signified best by each stall’s attempt to play their on-site music louder than the stalls surrounding them.
It boggles the mind to think how the teachers and parents didn’t go off the edge of the cliff after listening to three straight hours of heavy bassline.
