The price of petrol 95 octane, diesel and illuminating paraffin will decrease Wednesday 1 October, the Department of Energy said.

However, the price of petrol 93 octane and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) will increase.

Petrol 95 octane will decrease by 5 cents per litre, diesel will by 13 cents per litre and illuminating paraffin by 18 cents per litre.

Petrol 93 octane will increase by 2 cents per litre, and LPG by 12 cents per kilogram.

South Africa’s fuel prices are adjusted on a monthly basis and are informed by international and local factors.

According to the department, the reasons for the fuel price changes are mainly due to the decrease in the price of crude oil, which lead to lowered prices for petroleum products (petrol, diesel, illuminating paraffin and LPG) in the international markets as well as the depreciation of the Rand against the US Dollar.
