The Cacadu Boxing Organisation (Cabo) had a rather disappointing outing in East London in the recently concluded Eastern Cape Amateur Boxing Organisation (Ecabo) Cadet Championships.

Of the 22 strong cadets from Cabo, only one came back with gold, with three silvers and two bronze medals.
The cadet class is made-up of boxers between the ages of 12 and 14. Maphelo Thinta of Mfuzo boxing club was the only gold winner, competing in the 46kg category.
He is currently on his way to the National Cadet Championships to represent the province.
Likho Mlombi (32kg) and Mzimasi Nyhawe (37,5kg) from Mfuzo boxing and Anele Joja (41kg) of Eyethu boxing took silver medals, just missing out on joining the national team as only gold medallists qualify for the event.
Bronze medals went to Oyama Bhashe (28kg) and Anele Dayimani (36kg) of Mfuzo boxing and Mayfield boxing club respectively.
Cabo deputy president and Makana Amateur Boxing Organisation (Makabo) secretary Luyanda Dibela said some of their boxers could not make it to the ring as they struggled making the required weight limit. Only a minority of the boxers actually made it inside the ring, Dibela said.
The tournament, held over 13 and 14 September, featured the provinces’ best cadets competing for a chance to represent Eastern Cape in the national finals.
