Grocott's Mail is a finalist in the Small Independent Established Newspapers (5 years+) category of the 2013 MDDA-Sanlam Local Media Awards, according to statement by the sponsors released on 20 May 2014.
Grocott’s journalist, Avuyile Mngxitama-Diko, is a finalist in the Columns category, while the newspaper’s Upstart Youth section is a finalist for the best front pages in the Community/Grassroots Media category.
Sanlam and the Media Development and Diversity Agency (MDDA) announced the finalists for the Awards following the conclusion of judging for both broadcast and print sections of the competition.
From the 750 entries received for the 2013 Awards, 89 finalists have been selected; 64 for print and 24 in the broadcast section.
The winners will be announced at a gala event to present the Awards on Friday, May 23 at Birchwood Hotel and OR Tambo Conference Centre in Boksburg.

Mtimde and Moos said they looked forward to presenting the winners and to celebrating of the best in community journalism on May 23.
