Families South Africa in Grahamstown (FAMSA) celebrated International Family Day yesterday at Revelations coffee shop. FAMSA is a non-profit organisation that assists families to enhance relationships and also offer counselling to the community.
Families South Africa in Grahamstown (FAMSA) celebrated International Family Day yesterday at Revelations coffee shop. FAMSA is a non-profit organisation that assists families to enhance relationships and also offer counselling to the community.
The breakfast was attended by members of the community and also government stakeholders. Keynote speaker, Lara Coetzee, spoke to guests under the theme “Change begins at home”.
Among many important issues raised by Coetzee with regards to implementing change in families, she said, "We have a responsibility to raise children purposefully; we need to be intentional in guiding and disciplining them because that is what they need and they will thank us later."
She also emphasised that a family should be thriving and happy with the qualities of love, respect, peace and time to nurture the family environment.
Coetzee is the wife of Dirk Coetzee, who is a Pastor at Grahamstown Baptist Church.
