The future of a 44-year-old man hangs in the balance after being evicted from his late father's house in Extension 9 on Tuesday 8 April.

Sandile Pati has been left with no option but to go and live at his girlfriend's home in Extension 8.

Pati understands that his step mother sold his father's house.

What bothered Pati most was that the eviction was done while he was away from home.

"My things spent the whole night outside," he said. "What if someone had taken my things?"

Pati first thought that the person who moved into the house had hired people to break in and remove his belongings.

However, Sheriff of the Court Annerie Wolmarans confirmed to Grocott's Mail that people from her office had carried out the eviction.
A court order dated 26 March confirms that Pati has to vacate the Extension 9 house.

The order directs the sheriff to evict Pati should he fail to vacate the premises by 31 March 2014.

The RDP house, which is currently undergoing renovations, was sold for R15 000 by Pati's late father's widow in August 2013, according to court papers.

He believes he and his living siblings are entitled to half of that money.

Pati told Grocott's Mail that he is on the list of people to benefit from the Extension 10 housing project. In the meantime, he is living with his girlfriend and her family.
