Councillors felt that there are streets in town that need stop signs and four-way stops.
Councillor Les Reynolds proposed that there should be a four-way stop at Fitzroy, as he felt that there is an accident waiting to happen. "The congestion in that road is significant, and it is an accident waiting to happen," said Reynolds
Coenraad Hanekom argued, however, that erecting a stop street in that road would cause congestion and this would cause accidents.
Councillor Marcelle Booysen said the other problem at Fitzroy was roaming cattle.
"Cows in Fitzroy are a major problem and we have been raising this issue for a long time now, nothing has been done," said Booysen.
Chairperson of the Public Safety and Community Services, Mabhuti Matyumza, said the traffic department should monitor the councillors' concerns.
"Councillors should be vigilant about things that happen in their community, and you should monitor what the councillors raising and take decisions," said Matyumza.
