Several Eastcape Midlands College students spent the night outdoors after being evicted because a decrease in their National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has left them unable to pay their rent.

Some students were denied full bursaries by the financial aid scheme and have been protesting since Tuesday.

Finance student Sive told us about her night:

The students were housed in different places around Grahamstown, including rooms in the Frontier and Stone Crescent Hotel. 

At the time of publishing, hundreds of students were awaiting the outcome of a meeting which started at 8.30am on Wednesday between landlords, College management and three SRC councillors.
