The last bout of the opening of the Makana Boxing Organization tournament was on fire as Anele Bheyi went up against Bongani Mabona at the Indoor Sport Centre on Saturday 25 January.
The tournament was well attended by Mfuzo, Masibambane, Nkuthazo, Mayfield, Eyethu and Masakheke boxing club members, supporters and residents from Grahamstown.
Bheyi represents Masibambane while Mabona is from Mfuzo.
Bulelani Ndwayana, Masibambane's coach, said "we have been waiting for Bheyi's fight against Mabona and it was very interesting."
Ndwayana added that he hope that the club will learn from their mistakes and improve their boxing.
Mfuzo coach Luyanda Dibela, said that the tournament was very inspiring to him.
"All the boxers were showing their great talent," he said.
Dibela added that they wanted to see skills from the boxers and that is what they saw on Saturday.
Mabona's fellow Mfuzo teammate Siphosethu Zingela said that local boxing is improving and he hoped to see more of that this year.
