In their final Cricket SA Rural Competition fixture match played at Manleys Flats on Saturday 25 February, the EP Rural team lost by 74 runs against Boland West.

EP won the toss and sent the visitors in to bat on a good batting strip. Weather conditions were warm. Boland made a huge 276 for nine in their allotted 50 overs.

EP got off to a reasonable start in the field, restricting Boland for 51/3 in 12.3 overs, before captain Pieter Dietrich and Luke Ockhuis came to the crease and played positively from the outset. EP then introduced their most experienced player in Chesley Daniels the veteran spinner, who broke the partnership.

Daniels ended up as the best EP bowler taking three for 28 in six overs, while Zakes Simanga (2/22 in five) and Aneliso Mteto (2/39 in 10) supported him well.

EP lost two early wickets in chasing down the massive target set by Boland, before the inform Chris Fredericks and captain Kevin Bennet gave their side some momentum with a fine 63 run partnership from 88 balls.

Bennet was out for 27 while Fredericks went on to make 67. EP ended with 202 all out, falling 74 runs short.
