Today Grahamstown boxers Zikhona Skeyi and Anele Bheyi fight for their province at the South African National Amateur Boxing Organisation championships.

They will be representing the Eastern Cape in Bethlehem, Free State.

The local boxers both belong to Masibambane boxing camp and are coached by Bulelani Ndwayana.

Ndwayana says that the tournament will be a tough one, but his boxers have trained very hard.

They even attended a training camp in East London last weekend to sharpen their skills.

"I will be very happy if they can bring me a medal," he said.

In a telephone interview with Eastern Cape Boxing Organisation coach Luyanda Dibela, he said a total of 36 Eastern Cape men and women have been entered into the competition.

If these amateur boxers win gold medals they will be placed on the South African team, he said.
