Only two points stand between the Future Stars, Pirates and Sakhulutsha U15 soccer teams, all vying for the top spot in the Makana Local Football Association U15 league.
The league concludes this weekend and so far Future Stars lead the log with 29 points, followed by Pirates (29) and Sakhulutsha (27).
The Makana U13 league also ends this weekend, with Sophia soccer club leading the log on 31 points. They are followed by Golden Brothers on 26 points.
Akhona Heshu, co-ordinator of the junior league, said Sophia is the “surprise package” among the U13s, as in previous years the team remained in the bottom half of log standings.
“Determination and dedication has helped them,” Heshu said.
Heshu commended Golden Brothers in second place, as this is their first year playing in the league.
All teams in both leagues will play one game on Saturday and one on Sunday. Fixtures are scheduled to be played at JD Dlepu stadium and the Khutliso Daniels Secondary School sports field.
Matches start at 10am, see fixtures in Sports Diary.
