Speaking to Grocott's Mail on Thursday 5 September, ANC regional secretary Scara Njadayi said the party had established a political committee to look into these and other issues pertaining to Makana Municipality that have been in the media.

Njadayi said the committee would also focus on other reports, such as alleged links by a councillor to a property company that built a mall without submitting plans. Njadayi said political processes were in place to deal with these issues. "When these processes are concluded, we will let the Makana community know."

The comments come as a 46-year-old local councillor together with her co-accused are scheduled to appear in the Grahamstown Magistrate's Court on Tuesday 10 September to face charges of assault following an incident on 8 June.
