If you are a history buff, puzzle-solving guru, or just like to have fun, Grahamstown is waiting for you to unravel its mysteries in the Amazing Chase on 25 August.

Inspired by the Amazing Race, contestants compete by solving a series of clues which take them on a journey through the town.

Proceeds go to Sinakho day care facility for disabled children, Kuyasa school for the mentally handicapped and McKaiser old age home.

The annual Grahamstown event is in support of tourism month.

This year the race route has three variations. The first is an easy two-kilometre scenic route through Makana Botanical Gardens.

There is also a 6km walking, skateboarding or rollerblading route and a 12km cycle route. The time limit is two hours. There are category prizes and a lucky draw. B&Bs in Grahamstown will act as checkpoints, providing water and toilet facilities and selling snacks.

Enter on Saturday 17 August outside Pick n Pay or at Makana Tourism in High Street (R10 for children under 12 and R30 for adults). Race registration is at 10am on Sunday 25 August at Ornee Cottage in the Botanical Gardens. The race starts at 11am.
