The child, who is thought to be between the ages of 10 and 11, was knocked down at 7.45am on Wednesday 31 July.
An eyewitness says the boy was carried into an ambulance and taken away.
Although officials from Settler's Hospital have refused to comment, an inside source says the boy is in a stable condition.
This commotion caused a traffic jam, and the driver of a maroon Polo Classic failed to notice the slow-down.
He ploughed into another Polo, which in turn collided with the Toyota Yaris in front of it.
