Two residents in the Hill Street reported their cars missing earlier this week and thieves stole a third car from police barracks on Wednesday night.
Owner of the stolen Toyota Corolla, Annelene Sauls, said, "The worst thing is that we heard nothing. I think these guys are professionals, because my gear lock was on but they still managed to steal the car."
Sauls said her driver's licence and house keys had been in the car.
Police spokesperson Captain Mali Govender said car theft was becoming a crime of concern in Grahamstown.
"Older models of vehicles have been targeted: in more recent cases, Toyotas and a Honda Ballade," she said.
Govender said two men in their 20s were arrested by members of the Grahamstown Highway patrol on the N2.
They had spotted a cream Toyota Corolla, recognised ite as belonging to someone they knew and gave chase.
The owner of the vehicle was not aware his vehicle had been stolen.
Govender said a Jetta stolen in Port Elizabeth had been recovered in Joza.
Three men will appear in court on a charge of theft of motor vehicle.
