Grahamstown Cricket Board, in partnership with EP Cricket, held their fourth annual awards evening at the River and Skiboat Club in Port Alfred on Friday night. Southwell Cricket Club were the stars, having won the GCB first league, and were recognised by the province for their consistent performance during the season.

Around 150 guests including club delegates, Grahamstown Umpirers Association, EP Rural Representatives, GCB Executives, EP Cricket/Warriors Board Representatives and ICC match referee Devdas Govenjee attended.
Cuylerville Cricket Club also scooped accolades for winning the Bathurst First League, the GCB 20/20 Competition and the GCB Second League. Station Hill Cricket Club received the Club of the Year Award from EP Cricket for their commitment and enthusiasm.
Left-hand EP Rural and Cuylerville batsman Brian Handley walked away with the highest batting aggregate award for the most runs (426) and also for his consistent and outstanding performance for EP Rural. He ended up in second place on the SA Rural Cricket averages log, with 293 runs at an average of 73.25.
Greg Evans, from Sidbury, was honoured for his brilliant individual batting performances for EP Rural at the National Week, and for his selection to the SA Rural Team.
Grahamstown Cricket Board president Leon Coetzee thanked clubs, the umpires for their commitment and promoting cricket in the area. Dave Emslie, CEO of EP Cricket and Warriors, spoke of the passion for cricket that people of the area have shown and the success of the Pineapple Tournament.
"Cricket is alive and well in the Grahamstown area," Emslie said. "You should be proud of yourselves how you run the cricket in you area."
