East London-based blues rock band the Quin Maritz Trio recently recorded with sound engineer Matt Sabine in Grahamstown – see the band in action and hear what they have to say about the recording methods they used in the video below.
Grocott's Mail reporters spent time in studio with the group and filmed snippets of the unusual recording process they used, blending analogue and new technologies.
The trio is comprised of Quin Maritz on lead guitar and vocals, Warrick Knickelbein on bass and drummer Gary Paton.
They said they were very excited about the process and the opportunity to record with Sabine, whose special interest is music and recording techniques from the 60s, 70s and 80s.
