Local clubs Mfuzo, Nkuthazo, Mayfield and Masibambane all took part in the tournament held at Joza’s Indoor Sport Centre on Saturday.
Ndwayana said the Masibambane boxers came out tops because they are trained to perform under all conditions.
"All boxers were performing very well and they were all ready for the tournament," he said. "This trophy will be a symbol of many things to come."
When Masixole Kondile of Masibambane faced Nkuthazo boxer Sinethemba Jayson, both appeared very strong and kept the crowd's eyes glued to the action as they moved between all corners of the ring.
The fight ended with Kondile winning by points in round three. In the bout between Siphosethu Zingela (Mfuzo) and Anele Klaas (Nkuthazo), Klaas fell to the floor in all three rounds and Zingela won by points on the final round.
Makana Amateur Boxing Organisation (Makabo) President Mcebisi Ngcobondwana thanked everyone who came to support the tournament as well as those who participated.
He said the boxers will receive their awards this week. Ngcobondwana also announced that there will be a Mayoral Cup tournament on 27 April.
Addressing the crowd, Mfuzo coach Given Faxi announced that Mfuzo will host a tournament this coming Saturday in preparation for the Mayoral Cup.
It will be at Indoor Sport Centre. Saturday's tournament, organised by Makabo, was scheduled to take place over the Easter weekend but had to be postponed because of the persistent rain.
Organisers said the weather would have made it difficult for boxers and supporters to make it to the venue.
