The Belmont Development Company will appeal its rejected application to build housing on the Grahamstown golf course on the Cradock Road.

The Belmont Development Company will appeal its rejected application to build housing on the Grahamstown golf course on the Cradock Road.

The Department of Economic Development, Environmental Affairs and Tourism has refused the company's application for environmental authorisation for the residential scheme on the current golf course.

The housing development is crucial to its plans for developing a new golf course and other facilities in Belmont Valley.

The notice of intention to appeal is dated 15 January and the appeal itself must, by law, be submitted by the end of this month.

"The appeal submission will be e-mailed to all interested and affected parties and will also be made available for inspection at 67 African Street, Grahamstown on the day of lodging the appeal with the MEC," the notice reads.
