The funds will go towards the academic block which was ruined by a veld fire earlier this year. A total of 560 residents took part in the fun run, some walking dogs or pushing prams and others going for a win or personal best time.
Next year's prefects from a number of schools offered their traditional support for the race, entering as a group and dressing up for the event.
The overall winner was Sisa Camagu, of Port Elizabeth-based Nedbank Running Club, in 20 minutes and five seconds. Simphiwe Tana (Nedbank) was second in 20:28 and Brian Botha (Adidas) third in 20:51. Women's winner was Natalie Ross, who took part in the world triathlon champs in New Zealand days before.
Ross, a member of Rhodes University Athletics Club, won in 23:30. Terri-Lynn Penney (Run/Walk For Life Athletics Club) was second in 24:43 and Jene Banfield (Run/Walk For Life) was third in 25:28.
The first PJ pupil home was Shakarian Sampson who finished 19th overall and was followed closely by his teacher, Johan Gerber, in 20th. Victoria Girls' High School had the most participants followed by Kingswood College.
Water tables were manned by Post Office Grahamstown and Pam Golding Properties.
