Grocott's Mail sports editor, Stephen Penney, broke a Two Oceans Marathon record when he became the youngest person to complete 20 consecutive races. He beat the previous record-holder by a mere 15 days.
His respectable time of five hours, 34 minutes and 40 seconds was a long way from his best time, but after 20 races, that can be excused.

His respectable time of five hours, 34 minutes and 40 seconds was a long way from his best time, but after 20 races, that can be excused.

Several years back, Penney broke his ankle while taking photographs and had to have a steel pin inserted in the bone. Yet in spite of the pain during training and the race, he did not lose sight of this amazing record and kept on pushing till he finished the arduous course.

This weekend he finally achieved his goal – and it was wonderful. Congratulations!
