Last season's second best team in the Makana Local Football Association league, the Pillars, took to the Fiddler's Green last Sunday to take a stand against the Shining Stars. Winning this match would mean securing the three league points they needed to overtake their log rivals, the Mighty Chiefs.

The match started well for the Pillars, who immediately pushed forward with short passes, but the Shining Stars put up a fight and their defence remained solid at their end of the field. The Shining Stars counter attacked, but with long passes. The Pillars were then awarded a corner which their striker neatly headed into the goal box.

The Shining Stars tried in vain to score an equaliser, but eventually the Pillars were awarded a foul just outside the box. They failed to convert this however, as it sailed over the goal posts, much to the Stars' relief.

Once again the Pillars fought their way through the Stars' defence, as their winger escorted the ball to a striker who caught the goalkeeper unawares, bringing the Pillars to a 2-0 lead.

The Shining Stars refused to give up though, and when their striker found himself one-on-one with the Pillars goalkeeper he managed to score his team's first goal of the match.

The Stars seemed to be back on track and attempted to head another goal past their opponent's keeper, but instead the shot went straight over the poles altogether.

The game then moved back into the Stars' half of the pitch and the Pillars thought they had their third goal before half-time in the bag, but after scoring it was ruled to be off-side.

The second half saw the Pillars dominating the game, looking for that insurance goal. Once again they launched an attack and this time they successfully took a 3-1 lead. They followed this with two more goals, setting the final score at 5-1, and taking them to the top spot in the log in the Local Football Association A Stream of the league.
