Five new records were set in the field events at Hoerskool PJ Olivier's annual inter-house sports on Thursday. The track events took place at the school on Wednesday, with four records being broken there, and at the Rhodes University Prospect Field the next day, when Amanda Nel, in the U12 category, set three new records, breaking the discus, 100 metre and the 150 metre records.

The track events took place at the school on Wednesday, with four records being broken there, and at the Rhodes University Prospect Field the next day, when Amanda Nel, in the U12 category, set three new records, breaking the discus, 100 metre and the 150 metre records.

Her discus record stands at 14.24m (old record 12.36m), 100m – 14.7 seconds (old – 14.9) and the 150m 21.85 seconds (old 23.7s). Nel also picked up three trophies along the way, including the best track, best overall and Junior Victrix Ludorum trophies. Also in the U12 section, Marilise Strydom broke the U12 shotput record with a new distance of 7.22m (old – 5.93m) and she also broke the high jump record with a new height of 1.30m (old 1.22m).

Also breaking two records was U19 athlete Ruan Pagel. He set a new time of 21.1 seconds in the 200m event (old 23.5) and in the 100m with a new time of 11.4 seconds (old 11.5). Pagel broke two of among the oldest records still standing. The 200m record was set in 1978 by Tino Kankowski (father of Springbok rugby player Ryan Kankowski).

The 100m record was set by L Radloff in 1969. Other records went to Simone Schoonbe – U11 shotput 6.81 metres (6.24 metres old record) and Lu-Wayne Jacobs U8 80m – 13.66 seconds (old 14.5).
