    Graeme players shine at cricket festival

    Graeme College first cricket side showed good form at the Grahamstown Schools Cricket Festival, drawing their matches against Dale and St Dominic’s Priory and recording an emphatic victory against Cambridge.

    Graeme College first cricket side showed good form at the Grahamstown Schools Cricket Festival, drawing their matches against Dale and St Dominic’s Priory and recording an emphatic victory against Cambridge.

    Recently selected South African Rural U17 all-rounder, Abner Accom, scored 70 and 70 not out in two visits to the crease, while Odwa Xonxa (36 and 49), Alvino Douglas (61 not out), Jared Coetzee (39) and Lukhanyo Tshongweni (23 not out) caught the eye with the bat.

    Bowlers to impress were Abner Accom (2/51 and 3/26), Abongile Hashe (2/26 and 3/17) and Gordon-Wayne Plaatjies (3/13). Summarised scores:

    St Andrew’s College vs Menlo Park High School: St Andrew’s 252 for 8 declared (G King 100), Menlo Park 102 all out. St Andrew’s won by 150 runs.

    Graeme College vs Dale College: Graeme 236 all out (Abner Accom 70), Dale 151 for 6. Match drawn.

    St Dominic’s Priory vs St Alban’s College: St Dominic’s 153 all out, St Alban’s 154 for 3 (Cronje 95 not out). St Alban’s won by 7 wickets.

    Hudson Park High School vs St George’s College: Hudson Park 114 all out, St George’s 115 for 6. St Alban’s won by 4 wickets.

    Woodridge College vs Trinity House High School: Trinity House 167 all out, Woodridge 169 for 8 (T Hobson 77). Woodridge won by 2 wickets.

    Grahamstown Rural vs Hudson Park: Grahamstown Rural 110 all out, Hudson Park 112 for 4. Hudson Park won by 6 wickets.

    Graeme College vs St Dominic’s College: St Dominic’s 241 for 2, Graeme 91 all out (Alvino Douglas 61 not out). St Dominic’s won by 150 runs.

    St Andrew’s College vs St Andrew’s School (Bloemfontein): St Andrew’s 240 for 6 declared (Andrew Rushmere 69, Charles Bowren 62), St Andrew’s School 130 for 9. Match drawn.
