Following a slow sporting start to the year, there'll be three days of non-stop cricket action this week at the annual Grahamstown Schools Cricket Festival, once again hosted by St Andrew's College.

Fourteen teams are taking part in the festival which will be used to sharpen skills and prepare them for the upcoming season. Grahamstown schools St Andrew's, Graeme College, Kingswood and a Grahamstown Rural side can be seen in action, as well as St George’s College from Harare, Zimbabwe, who will participate in the festival for the first time.

In his welcome message to the participating teams, St Andrew's headmaster, Paul Edey said: “I trust you will enjoy the experience of playing in this festival which gives young cricketers an important opportunity to sharpen their skills ahead of the busy summer season.”

The day's play is scheduled to start at 9am and Thursday and Friday matches are declaration games. Saturday's format will be decided by opposing coaches, depending on the various travel arrangements.
