Soroptimist International Grahamstown club members recently spent an afternoon in Beverly Wilson's garage, putting together care packages for the Rape Survivor's Support Group.

The support group provides very real assistance to survivors of rape and sexual offences and is also supported through funding from the Department of Social Development. The support group volunteers are called out by the police when a rape case is reported and they support the survivor by not only taking their statements, but also by being present and supportive throughout the ordeal of physical examinations and court appearances.

"It is very sad that the community as a whole only pay attention to the plight of women and children 16 days of every year, whilst so many women and children are suffering very real daily abuse.
