A local taxi owner delighted a local church recently by donating them a new electronic keyboard. When Body of Christ International Rainbow Ministries founder, Mxolisi Mngcongo, wanted to open another branch of his Bathurst-based church, he struggled to get support for his project.

One of the things he was looking for, to make it possible to extend the church to Grahamstown, was musical instrument. And on Wednesday, it was taxi fleet owner Thembinkosi Mancam who opened his heart, after being approached by Mngcongo.

He said he had established the church after he saw that people were being rejected by some other churches because of what they had done in the past. “God called me to collect all those people because he loves us all, irrespective of what we have done in the past,” he said.

Those who had committed crimes or spent time in prison were welcome. “We do not discriminate,” he said.

Mancam said, “When we pray, we say God is there for us, and maybe this is another way of showing that He is always there. God did not bless us in order for us to look down upon the less fortunate, but to bless them also.” He said it was in this spirit he had decided to donate the keyboard..

Mngcongo was very grateful, explaining that it was impossible to do fundraising within the church because his congregation were simply too poor. He said the donation he had received from Mancam would go a long way towards easing the plight of his church.

"May God bless him (Mancam) and his businesses, so he continues taking care of us and others, because he is doing it for God," he said. Mngcongo encouraged other businesspeople to help his church with donations of items the church could use.
