Kenton are tennis champs

Kenton Tennis Club were crowned the winners of the 2011 Bathurst and Districts Lawn Tennis Association, when the league came to an end recently.

Kenton won the A league with 85 points, followed by Southwell on 70 points. Grahamstown 1sts finished fourth.

Port Alfred won the B league, with Grahamstown 2nds finishing seventh. Grahamstown 3rds won the C league.

1. Kenton – 85 points, 2. Southwell – 70, 3. Seven Fountains – 58, 4. Grahamstown – 55, 5. Blaaukrantz – 45, 6. Salem – 32

B LEAGUE:

1. Port Alfred – 97, 2. Shaw Park 1 – 96, 3. Coombs 1 – 86, 4. Kenton – 81, 5. Sidbury – 77, 6. Clumber – 68, 7. Grahamstown – 60, 8. Southwell – 55, 9. Shaw Park 2 – 51, 10. Seven Fountains – 47, 11. Blaaukrantz – 46, 12. Coombs 2 – 11.

C LEAGUE:

1. Grahamstown – 94, 2. Salem – 87, 3. Kenton – 86, 4. Shaw Park – 79, 5. Seven Fountains – 57, 6. Sidbury – 54, 7. Coombs – 47, 8. Southwell – 44, 9. Clumber – 40.

The 2011 tennis season will end with the club championships. The women's and men's singles and doubles will take place on Saturday (27 August) – A league at Kenton Tennis Club, B league at Grahamstown and C league at Shaw Park.

The mixed doubles and finals for all the leagues will take place on Saturday 3 September at the Grahamstown Tennis Club.
