Makana Independent New Deal (Mind) plans to organise a debate for the parties contesting the May 18 local government elections.

Mind is contesting in the elections as a grouping of independent candidates and aims to get the different political parties to talk to their constituencies on one platform.

Mind's interim leader, Jock McConnachie, said the debate would aim to promote interest in the elections and better inform the public about their candidates.

Scheduled for Thursday 5 May, in the city hall, the debate is expected to attract a large audience. It will start at 7.30pm and end at 9.30pm. McConnachie said invitations were yet to be sent out to the other parties.
